New Mobile Advice Service

P3 (People Potential Possibilities) would like to introduce their mobile support and advice service. This mobile advice service is to improve the lives of people by giving direct housing advice, support and signposting individuals to the relevant organisations.

We would like to make contact with people who could possibly benefit from our support. Some of the issues we can help with are housing related issues, debt benefits eviction, helping people stay to stay independent and accessing community groups/signposting to other agencies.

We have referral forms which can be accessed on the website http://p3charity.org and completed on line. Alternatively email: warks@p3charity.org

Offchurch History Book

Offchurch 1820 – 1980: 160 years of life in a Warwickshire village

http://www.offchurchhistorybook.co.uk/

cache_2456814527

  • What have Pocahontas, a dragon from Lyme Regis and Edward the Prince of Wales got in common with Offchurch?
  • What is a pibble and a pinner?
  • Take a trip around the village with Lord and Lady Guernsey in 1848
  • Read the stories behind the headstones
  • Make sense of the censuses

This book is a light-hearted look at the social history of the village of Offchurch, mainly focussing on events and the people involved in them. It has been written chronologically.

Material has been gathered from school log books, vestry minutes, local newspaper archives, the internet, word of mouth, books and old village magazines. It has been a joy to research and write and I sincerely hope that you will enjoy reading it.

St. Gregory’s church went through a massive period of restoration between the years 1863 to 1871 and this has been documented in the book.

There were eight censuses taken between 1841 and 1911 and I had a lot of fun picking them apart and number-crunching. Which were the most popular names in the village? How many people were born in the village? Who was living in The Bury? Who was the oldest resident?

From a scandal connected to the Lord of the Manor that rocked the Royal family, to how the village was run by the vestry committee.

From details about the many vicars through the years, to weddings and funerals held at St. Gregory’s church.

From the building of the first school, to the closing of the last.

Material has been gathered from school log books, vestry minutes, local newspaper archives, the internet, word of mouth, books and old village magazines.  It has been a joy to research and write and I sincerely hope that you will enjoy reading it.”

“Four Eyes” live music duo

Dear all,

My name is Anthony Harris. I am part of a duo with my Father called “Four Eyes” Over the last 15 years we have played music at various pubs & clubs in Warwickshire and the surrounding areas. Currently, we charge £100 for 2 & 1/2 hrs entertainment. Typically, this consists of 1hr acoustic guitar/harmonica & 1 & 1/2 hrs of electric guitar songs played over a drum/bass backing. We can do an all acoustic/harmonica evening If required. All songs played are well known. Nothing obscure.

Should you need a reference please contact Steve & Louise at The Hope & Anchor, Hill Street, Leamington Spa. We have done New Years Eve there for the past three years. Alternatively, I can send you a home recorded disc If you let me know.

Thank you for your time.

Warwickshire Community Oil/LPG Syndicate – February 2014

January saw another great oil price for both our kerosene and red diesel members.

A saving of £54.50 per 1000 litres against the average market price was made by members ordering kerosene, paying just 52.95pence per litre, whilst our members who use red diesel saved a massive 9pence per litre.

We are still able to provide bulk LPG at just 43pence per litre with an introductory £100 fuel discount and our LPG cylinders remain very competitively priced.
